The Story Behind My Pocket Bags: A Blend of History and Craftsmanship

When I set out to design my leather pocket bags, I did so with a strong belief in the principle of ‘Form follows Function.’ For me, a leather bag should be more than just a beautiful accessory—it should be rooted in practicality and carry a story from the past.

The inspiration for my pocket bags comes from two timeless sources: the rugged working belts used by carpenters and furniture makers, and the utilitarian ammunition belts worn by soldiers in the 1930s.

These belts weren’t just about style—they were essential tools designed to improve efficiency, reduce weight, and ensure that everything the wearer needed was within easy reach. Around this time, the British Army was revolutionising how soldiers carried their gear, with new bags that lightened their load while still being durable enough for the toughest conditions.

Like these historical pieces, both the working belts and military bags prioritised comfort, weight distribution, and convenience. Every feature had a clear purpose, and this same philosophy guides the design of my pocket bags.

So how does this inspiration come to life in my pocket bags?

The pockets are intentionally designed to be somewhat loose, ensuring the bag molds to your body, just as a craftsman’s tool belt would. With multiple compartments (such as in my three-pocket bag), you’ll find everything at your fingertips—no more digging around for your phone, wallet, or keys when you’re in a rush. And like any timeless piece, I’m particular about how my Pocket Bags close. The classic push-button closure has become my signature, offering both style and functionality.
